Pepe’s Mexican & American Restaurant was founded in 1971 by Joe (Pepe) & Genevieve Lopez, after they purchased and converted Ernie’s, a small taco stand. Joe expanded the restaurant and added a bar with a band stand for entertainment. In 1986 Pepe’s was sold to the Gibson Family. Brother’s Tom, Don, Harry, and Marty purchased the restaurant and Harry, his wife Doreen, & Marty Gibson were in charge of operations. A few years later Marty was left to run Pepe’s on his own. Marty continued to add on to the existing Pepe’s, adding a covered outdoor patio. In 2006 Pepe’s began a complete remodel which was completed in 2007. Additional space was added to the Cantina that doubles as a banquet room. The outdoor patio was enclosed to better accommodate large parties.
In 2010 Marty turned the operations of Pepe’s over to his brother Tom Gibson, niece Linda Wilson, and nephew-in-law Michael Wilson. Pepe’s is a Canyon Lake tradition, and the Gibson family will always take pride in the location of Pepe’s.
Pepe’s Mexican & American Restaurant’s menu features great Mexican & American food, including Sizzling Fajitas, Burritos, Tacos, Chile Verde, Rib Eye Steak, Burgers, and much more. Pepe’s is open for lunch & dinner 7 days a week, also serving breakfast Saturday mornings, and Sunday Brunch. Pepe’s Cantina is open 7 days a week featuring our Grande Margarita as well as a full bar with great specialty drinks! Pepe’s Catering Menu is perfect for any party, our 3 foot burrito is sure to please everyone! Pepe’s also has a large banquet room that is great for any function, leave the work to us and enjoy your celebration!
